It starts with a wave – Nextdoor’s new look

We’ve kick-started September with a whole new look for Nextdoor and we’re so excited for you to see and hear all about it.

Our new look incorporates a brand new logo along with a bright colour refresh – and it’s inspired by you – our neighbours!

Since launching Nextdoor, we’ve witnessed firsthand the power neighbourhoods have when we tap into them.  Over the last six months, this has never been more evident, as neighbours have come together to offer support, help and companionship in times of real need as the UK, and the rest of the world, went into lockdown.

It is this neighbourliness and kindness that has been our inspiration and is why we have given Nextdoor a brand new identity that reminds us how powerful small and simple acts really are – we’ve been moved by the remarkable changes that can come from the smallest of neighbourly gestures, such as a wave across the street. 

A wave is a universal welcoming gesture of ‘hello’ and neighbourliness. It’s a simple action that we all do and it’s enough to change somebody’s day.

If there’s anything we’ve learnt in our years of neighbouring at Nextdoor, it’s that neighbourhoods are built on small, simple actions – the coffee shop owner who greets you by name each morning, the stranger who lets you go first in the queue at the chemist, or the neighbour who waves at you from across the street while you’re putting the bins out. It’s these small, simple actions that can make the world of difference. One small action can grow into something bigger. 

The new Nextdoor logo is an invitation to take the first step. It features a friendly, waving ‘n’ as our centrepiece which welcomes you every time you see it. The new logo will inspire neighbours to start with a simple action, such as a wave, that can spark bigger changes in their neighbourhoods.

The new look also reminds neighbours of the possibilities nearby. To simply tap into your neighbourhood and discover what’s on offer – local businesses, new places, local knowledge and of course, the people. It’s time to meet the neighbour down the road, to sell that old sofa or to find a new local restaurant. Nextdoor helps neighbours tap into their neighbourhoods like never before.

A neighbour-centric focus 

Nextdoor’s brand identity is inspired by the actions and attitudes we’d like to see more of on the platform. A platform that is welcoming to all neighbours. A place where everyone can have a neighbourhood to rely on.

If ever there were a moment to connect with our local community, that time is now.

It’s time for us to meet our neighbours. It’s time for us to reach out to someone who’s lonely. It’s time to have a cuppa with the family down the street.  Or maybe, just to simply wave at our neighbour nextdoor each morning.

Simple, small acts of kindness are the cornerstone of neighbourly interactions.  Sometimes it’s the ‘weak ties’ nearby that make the biggest impact. It doesn’t take much – a smile, a nod, a wave. So, why not give it a try?
